8/9/17 – Wouldn’t be a thru hike without a little stomach bug

Day 107
Miles: 2,116.14 to 2,132.79

Total miles hiked: 1,491.75

I really really wanted to be in Cascade Locks tonight but there is only as much as you can do when you are not feeling well and the energy to crush the uphills is not there.

Smoke setting in the valley. They say the air should clear soon.

My stomach ensured frequent runs into the bushes today and another 2 hour siesta. The good thing was that in the afternoon I could hold both liquids and food in and when on an uphill I still sweated which is a sign that I was still safely hydrated.

Ideally our day would finish at Wahtum Lake where there were plenty of beautiful camp sites overlooking the water, it would be a shorter day but rest would do me good as I didn’t sleep well last night. Wahtum Lake; however is closed for camping right now due to the Eagle Creek Fire nearby. The firefighters use it to scoop water by a helicopter that they then dump on the fire.

If it wasn’t for the smoke this ridge would have had fabulous views. Still pretty nice walk

So we pushed 4 more miles past the lake to an area in a clearing where we once again secured the very last site to fit us.

Evening view

My stomach felt definitely better in the evening, hopefully the worse is over and I can start enjoying the miles again.
